CATW practice 2

A women died in the waiting room in Brooklyn's largest psychiatric hospital. This news shocked many people in the country. According to the report in the article"the woman who Died in the waiting room",this woman was strugling nearly an hour before her death was found because of the medical delay. It said the country has had many problems in sovling metally illness since 1960s,especially when patients came to be poor, they didn't even get a chance to be treated with regula medication. Its true and I totally agree with what  Ken Duckworth,a medical director of the national Alliance, said that "the mentally ill typically wait twice as long for treatment as other patient population do".This country really should pay more attention to the care of mental ill patients since this is not just a personal matter but it will effect the development of the country.

First of all,Morally, those mentally ill patients are parts of the regular patients. They should be treated as same as other patients. The society can't keep them away or treat them differently. This is not right. We are human beings, and we will naturely become worried as we see our family members or friends getting sick.I believe it is the same feeling that those mental ill patients'families have been suffering. My grand father was dying in a lung cancer, and my family secured him till the very last second of his life. It seems to me that we, as his family, suffered more mentally pain then he did when we saw him becoming thiner and weaker, till he can't  even talk. What I am trying to say is that illness is not only the pain that hurt patients but it also pain their families.
Every society has its problem to work with and we are the people who can help to work that out. Nevertheless,to give mental patients more medical care is to  help raise the society to a highter level.

Revision of the blog 1

In the article"an education in citizenship"the auther (name isn't mentioned)excerpted from Chicago Tribune that shows a new law which allows young people in the U.S. to pay as same amount of tuition fee as in-state resident did in illinois has been triggering lots of arguements. Many people embrace this new lawsuit since they assume the federal tax paid by their parents support the part of the university's budget while the other people claim this is depriving U.S. citizens' benefit. As for me, I disagree with this change and my reasons are in the following.

First of all, as the definition of the word"in-state"shows , in-state rate is obviously for the people who are residents in that state. That is a part of benefits for being a citizen there as well as the reward they should have for constantly paying tax in that state. Otherwise those in-state residents are not being treated as a way it supposed to be. Most importantly, people who cross the state to another one for college education should be prepared to do whatever is demanded in that state. It is like a quote said "you dont pay,you dont play"if they think the college tuition rate is un affordable or too expensive, they can just choose to stay in their state, go to a college and pay lower in-state tuition fee. Nevertheless, Requesting for a lower tuition rate is legitimate. No doubt, nobody wants to be over charged for doing the same thing. However, the solution to those issues sometime is not as easy as some people think it could be.Here are some examples that can better explain why people sometime  are treatly differently. Lets say in new york. why people living in Mahattan mid-town have to pay outragiously higher price for everything such as food, clothes, apartment rent and even parking fee. The answer can simply be district. Again, why senior citizen can enjoy lots of financial aid that young people can't. It is because of the age. It is the same thing when we talk about why some students have to pay extra tuition fee.Its because they are not residents in that state, and neither they nor their parents ever contribute tax to that state.Therefor, allowing out-state students enjoy in-state benefit isn't a good way to go.

Secondly, if that tuition rate change happens in Illinois,it may result in unifying the college tuition rate in the whole country, and that is going to be a big problem for the country. As far as I know, U.S. goverment has already contributed tons of moeny to college's expenses every year. Facility, equipment, professors'salary, students'loan and scholarship, etc. Those things are mostly supported by the goverments. Therefore, when the tuition rate gets unified,.which is same to say everyone in the U.S. enjoys the in-state college tuition rate, the goverment will probably cut off the cost of faculty'salary, equipments, and raise the tax accordingly and so on. As we can see , the results are so unexpetedly worse. So in order to prevent those unwanted results happening, this new state law should be abandon.

In conclusion, I understand nobody wants to be charged extra fee for doing the same thing, but simply unifying the tuition fee will trigger more negtive aspects. I believe the U.S.goverment has been working very hard to try to find a solution. And most of the time, the fact is the solution is not as simple as people want it to be.

Otherwise those in-state residents are not being treated as a way it is supposed to be. Response to Hype

I agree with the author'idea that adivertisement is like poision which harm our society.
First of all,ads are taking the healthy lifestyle away from us. As it said in the article, ads now are appearing everywhere in the U.S..It's true that I barely can find a place with no ads around.Everywhere I went are full of ads,and everywhere I saw are about ads. It makes me feel the quiet and pieceful society that I used to live in is no longer existing. For example,in a 40minutes
TV show, ads will occur no less than 15minutes. Most importantly,it happens so frequently sometimes like per ten minutes or even less. That's not all, in order to have a qualitative rest of or break I tried doing many things like staying away from media, shutting down everything related to communication. That way I think might be helpful.Unfortunately, my plan didnt work, and somebody just came to my house, knocked my door and inserted an advisisement paper into my house through the gap.As we can see no matter how hard I have tried, ads is like a ghost that follow me anywhere.

Secondly, ads cost a lot of money.even if  it just occurs a few seconds on the screen. It would be very nice if they could shrink the time of performance or restrain the area of posting ads because that can not only save tons of money but also make our society less commercial. Unlike what it used to be ,nowadays, the children in most of  major cities are overwhelmed by those ads. For instance, its not rare to see children humming and performing some of the ads instead of singing the classical songs. They are no longer interested in reading some materials without ads around. That's not a good sign for the furture development of the society since children need a pure and healthy enviroment to grow up. Most importantly, ads are overly earily bringing our children to the bussiness world.

Summary of Alegory of the cave

in the article "Alegory of the cave",it shows people who live in the "underground world" can not see thing clearly but themselves. Furthermore, those people seemingly can not be able to figure what the realityis even if the sun lighten their sights because they have gotten used to be in the dark and the sun light won't give them the right direction but distress them. Lastly, the author  states  that the idea of good appears at very end  and when it is seen,it is refered to be the all the wonderful things.

Summary of Hype

In the article"Hype", the author"Kalle Lasn" states how advertisements affect people' lives negatively by listing some certain numbers of different type of advertisements which come into U.S.every day. Further more, he shows us ads are now appearing everywhere in North America and leaving our eyes with no rest at all. That is same to say ads are getting people away from the healthy life styles. I agree with author's opinion that ads are like poison which harm our society.
