A women died in the waiting room in Brooklyn's largest psychiatric hospital.This news shocked many people in the country. According to the report in the article"the woman who Died in the waiting room",this woman was strugling nearly an hour before her death was found because of the medical delay.It said the country has had many problems in sovling metally illness since 1960s,especially when patients came to be poor,they didn't even get a chance to be treated with regula medication. Its true and I totally agree with what Ken Duckworth,a medical director of the national Alliance,said that "the mentally ill typically wait twice as long for treatment as other patient population do".This country really should pay more attention to the care of mental ill patients since this is not just a personal matter but it will effect the development of the country.
First of all,Morally,those mentally ill patients are parts of the regular patients. They should be treated as same as other patients. The society can't keep them away or treat them differently.This is not right.We are human beings,and we will naturely become worried as we see our family members or friends getting sick.I believe it is the same feeling that those mental ill patients'families have been suffering.My grand father was dying in a lung cancer,and my family secured him till the very last second of his life. It seems to me that we, as his family,suffered more mentally pain then he did when we saw him becoming thiner and weaker, till he can't even talk.What I am trying to say is that illness is not only the pain that hurt patients but it also pain their families.
Every society has its problem to work with and we are the people who can help to work that out. Nevertheless,to give mental patients more medical care is to help raise the society to a highter level.
